Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 to Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family who resided in Atlanta. The story began with her great grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was farmer. Her father took an early interest in the theatre. He was a part of his Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions around Atlanta. He joined the air force in 1953. While being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi was cast in an army production that featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was part of the Air force. The couple got married in 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter as well as his spouse left the Air Force in 1957 and enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. In 1960, the couple moved into Decatur Georgia. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of the local Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In the following year, they established The Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for a period of six years. Lelisa Billingsley often referred to as Lisa, was born in 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
